how to shoot a basket ball
The basic positions and movements of shooting a basketball.
Stance: Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and tilt sideways (feet tilted toward 11 o'clock), for example, for a right-handed shot, the right foot is in front and the left foot is behind. This stance helps to keep the elbow pointed at the basket and avoids elbow turnout, thus ensuring accuracy of the shot.
Ball-holding technique: the palm of the hand is empty, not close to the basketball, the fingers are open and the root of the palm touches the ball. This way of holding the ball allows the power of the lower limbs to be transferred to the palm of the hand through the root of the palm, ensuring that the shooting power is sufficient, the range is long and the arc is high.
Body posture: when shooting, the two feet before and after the natural open stand, two knees slightly bent, the upper body slightly forward, the center of gravity falls between the two feet. This not only facilitates the concentration of force in shooting, but also facilitates the change of other actions.
Arm action: When shooting, the arm should be close to three 90-degree angle (above the forehead), easy to top elbow force, throwing a perfect parabola. The arm should be fully extended and pointing toward the basket for full power and muscle memory.
Wrist action: The wrist should be cocked slightly upward to give the ball upward power and arc. Adjust the strength and angle of the wrist to better control the trajectory and speed of the ball.
Different types of shooting techniques:
One-handed shooting: one-handed shooting is one of the most common types of shooting, with simple movements for close and mid-range shooting. When shooting, one hand pushes the ball out of the air, wrist forward and fingertips up.
Two-handed shooting: two-handed shooting is suitable for long-distance shooting, placing the ball in front of the forehead and pushing both hands at the same time to pluck the ball out. This type of shooting has good stability.
Jump shot: The jump shot is to throw the ball while jumping, using the force of the jump to send the ball into the basket. The jump shot is good for maintaining a high percentage of shots despite interference from a defender.
Hook shot: Hook shot is a way to throw the ball from the side or back to the basket, which is more stealthy and less likely to be interfered by the defense.
Practice Suggestion:
In-situ shooting practice: imitation practice of in-situ shooting with bare hands to experience the movement method; shooting practice without facing the basket; front-facing shooting practice; shooting practice at different angles.
Combination of training methods: such as changing direction in front of the body to catch three-step layup, dribbling behind the back to catch three-step layup, dribbling under the crotch to catch three-step layup, etc. These methods can help to improve the coordination of foot movement and shooting.
By mastering the correct shooting posture and skills and practicing repeatedly, the accuracy and hitting rate of shooting can be effectively improved.
